Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is this site?
A: It is a fun place to learn about different cities in the world. It is a place to showcase beautiful and creative photography by photographers from around the world.
The photos themselves contain a variety of clues to test your knowledge of the world and cities in particular.
Guessing the name of a city before someone else makes a competitive and enjoyable experience. It beats Solitaire for a 5-10 minute diversion.
Q: How does it work?
A: By clicking Start on the Home page, a city is selected randomly and 20 photos of that city are displayed one at a time.
The photos are arranged from the obscure to the obvious. After the photos, the final page displays the name of the city and
the photographer with a link to more of the photographer's photos. To display another city, click Guess Again.
Q: How many cities are on the site?
A: Currently, there are 82 cities.
Q: What is the best way to view the photos in my browser?
A: There are many variations because of different monitors, different Operating Systems and different browsers.
I like to view the photos fullscreen. I do that by removing the navigation, status and address bars (others if necessary)
from View and pressing F11. The resolution of my monitor is 1024x768.
Q: Are you looking for more photographers?
A: Yes. There are many interesting and beautiful cities not yet represented. Photos need to be 1024x768 or greater in
resolution (some exceptions). I typically browse through hundreds of photos to select the 20 for the site. I am looking
for variety; uniqueness; colour; life; some widely recognizable features of the city.
Email me with a link to your photos or someone you know and I will gladly consider them.
Q: Is there any way to skip a city that I've already seen?
A: If you hit the Back button in the browser, it will immediately take you to the final page of the current city.
Q: May I make a suggestion?
A: Yes. Please do. I will consider all suggestions. Contact: fred@guessthiscity.com
